Our vegetarian (actually, completely vegan) Thanksgiving "Turkey" roast is the absolute best roast we have ever tried. Believe me, over the last 30 years, we have tried it all. We've driven to whatever markets we could find that would carry a mock turkey roast so we could enjoy thanksgiving dinner with family without relying on bread and potatoes to keep us full.
Turkeyish, without the Turkey

Over a decade ago, we started making our own Thanksgiving roasts, rather than relying on store-bought versions that were never really that good, but we pretended they were just so we could prove the food we ate was just as good. Admittedly, we started making our own because we missed having a traditional thanksgiving meal and did not really enjoy the ones we were having. Sure, they were okay, but we never honestly enjoyed them as much as we did growing up eating roast with the family... We especially missed having sandwiches the next day. We continued making them until we found a perfect combination that not only tastes good, and is "turkeyish" without the turkey or moral dilemma, but works great on sandwiches the next day with vegan mayo! In fact, our vegan "turkey" roasts are so good, they have even passed the taste and texture test from many non-vegetarian family members!
Each roast serves 4 and you should still have enough to make sandwiches the next day! We recommend purchasing 2 or more for 4 or more people. Our roast tends to be bigger and more robust than the average store-bought brand we have all tried.
